Finally, your dream of helming a movie has come true!

(Sighs) yes, all the efforts done for realizing this dream has bore fruits. Now the time has come tosee what viewers’ feel about my work.

Before that, let us talk about the film. What inspired to make you MAUSAM?

Every script is an experience or an instance you have and read or watched. While scripting MAUSAM, I thought of making a film that people can relate to. MAUSAM depicts not just seasons of the nature but the seasons of love and developments in the relationships of its principal characters.

You have cast your own son Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. Any particular reason?

Firstly, it is very easy to work with him. I started discussing the script and subject right from the time when I was writing it. But I opted for him because of his past works and because he as an actor persuaded me to select him. He lived up to my expectations and has done complete justice to the character.

You have lend your voice to the film’s composition…

The film was very tempting yet I have been in the background supporting it from behind the camera. Yes, I do have a voice over in a song in the film but it is not really singing or crooning as such.

Which is your favourite song in MAUSAM?

All the songs of the movie are very well written and composed by Pritam. Personally, I liked Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi more. All the songs are to add the feel of love as the movie is beyond romance.

Has Shahid changed in any way after MAUSAM?

As an actor, he has indeed grown with MAUSAM. His serene and subtle work in the film will surely be appreciated by one and all.

Why should someone go and watch the movie?

Because MAUSAM is about love between two people. It is simple, sublime yet the historic events take place during progression of the story will either make feel you are not a viewer, but an integral part of it. I can say that most viewers’ would feel that somewhere down the line, it has something taken straight out of his or her life.
