KATRINA KAIF LEAPS FROM SHEILA TO CHIKNI CHAMELI

Katrina Kaif is all set to sizzle in 'Agneepath' with her charm. Pleasing her fans and a new tune to hum with the stunning item number 'Chikni Chameli' in Hrithik Roshan's 'Agneepath'.

Her earlier item number 'Shiela Ki Jawaani' from the film 'Tees Maar Khan' had become an instant hit and was the sole appeal of the Akshay Kumar starrer.

It's too early to predict anything about the fate of the song but the first look of the video featuring Katrina seems promising.The song is catchy and has the potential to become the chartbuster. 'Chikni Chameli' is the Hindi version of 'Kombadi Palali' from Marathi film 'Jatra' released in 2006, and is composed by Atul and Ajay Gogavale.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA IN JAIL

Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2, shooting puts Priyanka in the Malaysian jail giving authentic flavor and visually gripping elements. Priyanka Chopra was the most worried to shoot at the jail due to a common myth that every prisoner at the jail is capable of hypnotizing making piggy nervous.

Malacca prison was very exciting location as the crew where in a fully functioning prison with real live criminals inside. The actress plays a cop in the film, however does not wear the uniform but Shah Rukh Khan and Boman Irani look really cool in bright Orange colour of the uniform.

Don 2 is the first ever film to be shot in Malacca prison and a complete section of the prison block was made available for the shoot. About 700 prisoners were air-lifted and moved to another cell to accommodate the filming.

Tom’s Indian Connection

VETERAN ACTOR DEV ANAND DIES OF CARDIAC ARREST IN LONDON

Dev Anand, the 'Evergreen Romantic Superstar' of Indian cinema, has passed away in London on Saturday night following cardiac arrest. He was 88. Dev Anand, who had come to London for medical check up, was not keeping well for the last few days,family sources said. His son Sunil was with him when he breathed last.

Dev Anand made his debut as an actor in 1946 in Hum Ek Hain. By the time his Ziddi was released in 1947 he was a superstar and has never looked back.Versatile Dev Anand has given countless hits like Paying Guest, Baazi, Jewel Thief, CID, Johny Mera Naam, Amir Garib, Warrant, Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Des Pardes.

For his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, Dev Anand was honoured with the prestigious the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2002.He established his film production company Navketan International Films in 1949 and has produced more than 35 movies.Dev Anand has won two Filmfare Awards - India's equivalent of the Oscars - in 1958 for his performance in the film Kala Paani (Black Water) and in 1966 for his performance in Guide.Guide went on to win Filmfare Awards in five other categories including Best Film and Best Director and was sent as India's entry for the Oscars in the foreign film category that year.He co-produced the English Version of Guide with the Nobel Laureate Pearl S Buck (The Good Earth).

In 1993, he received a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and in 1996 he received a Screen Videocon Lifetime Achievement Award.Of late he was involved in the direction of a new all American film Project Song Of Life - a musical love story which was to be shot in the United States.He was to play the central character in the film which was to have a predominantly American star cast.Dev Anand is the second of three brothers who were active in Hindi Cinema. His brothers are Chetan Anand and Vijay Anand. Their sister, Sheel Kanta Kapur, is the mother of renowned film director Shekhar Kapur.

DIRTY PICTURE FILM REVIEW

Expectations are bound to surface, when a film is hyped to no bounds. So, does The Dirty Picture live up to the expectations. Yet again a flamboyant translation of a real-life story on celluloid unfolds the sizzling Silk with so much conviction that he leaves no room for loop-holes. The beauty of the film is though predictable, yet each frame springs up a surprise as Vidya displays various shades of her character, leading to some interesting situations. What adds to the ecstasy is how the three men react to it.

Vidya Balan incontrovertibly steals the show and depicts talent which blows one off with her tremendous entertainment value. So much so, that the other three male leads- Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi end up becoming mere supporters with due respect to their acting skills. Vidya carries those extra-kilos and gaudy costumes with oodles of confidence. Naseer impresses with various punches in his dialogues and what further does the needful, is his retro look which he carries with a great poise. Tusshar is strictly okay, thanks to his nerdy character. Emraan looks extremely at ease with his role and makes one fall in love with his charm that of a gentleman. Anju Mahendroo does her part well as a journalist.

Milan Luthria does justice to the beautiful scripting and screenplay writing of Rajat, barring the climax that lacks luster, especially after the director pulls off the entire movie with so much brillance. Luthria offers a spicy package with dialogues adding fuel to it. The direction is non-jerky, despite him switching from peppy to low emotions in frequent intervals. The portrayal of Silk’s intelligence through various situations, for instance, how she takes revenge from both Naseer and Anju Mahendroo by being a party blooper and eventually kissing Tusshar is a treat to watch.

The breath-taking Ooh la la is already topping the charts and Ishq Sufiyana is no less, with its extremely soothing tune. Cinematography complements the direction and adds an oomph factor to the screenplay. Dialogues are noteworthy thus, in other words- the lifeline of the film. Editing could have been edgier, as the film seems quite lengthy.

Overall, a big thumbs up to The Dirty Picture, which is in its truest meaning, an entertainer. Highly recommended!

Shaikh Shafique(25)who played lead protagonist in Anurag Kashyap and Bohra Brothers MALEGAON KA SUPERMAN passed away yesterday.The actor was battling with throat cancer,the actor lived with wife and twoyoung daughters.

In Malegaon Ka Superman, the actor lived the on screen life,addicted to gutkha and became a victim to throat cancer.Through the film Shafique wished to support anti tobacco and gutkha consumption campaign and spread awareness on throat cancer.

The parting superman saw the screening along with 2000 people on Tuesday in Malegaon with friends and family as his last wish fulfilled.The whole unit of the film express solemn condolences to the actor’s family.
