SOUNDTRACK stands on factual events, it is an official remake of the cult English film It’s All Gone Pete Tong (2004). The film traces the sudden rise and fall of a Rajeev Khandelwal who plays DJ Raunak Kaul who has immense talent to make the world dance to his tunes and passion for music. The first track What the F*** could turn a party number soon with its novel beats. But too much of sex and drugs, not only makes him lose focus towards work, but lead to a permanent physical disability. In his world dominated by loud music, Raunak turns completely deaf and is unable to pursue his dreams to make music.

Things start changing when he meets Soha Ali Khan, who plays Gauri, she too is hearing impaired but has mastered the art of lip-reading. In Gauri, he finds a tutor and a companion. Also his passion for music is regenerated, as he attempts to sense sound and study digital waveforms of tunes to create new music. Thereby a deaf DJ turns a renowned composer.

Debutant director Neerav Ghosh attempts to give a docu-drama narrative to make it seem like a biographical take on the life of his protagonist. The first half seems preoccupied with close-up shots of alcohol, drugs, smoke and sex. Raunak boozes as if he were drinking water and smokes like he is breathing air. But after a point of time, it only gets repetitive and seems forced.

The attitude of the film rapidly changes in the second half when the plot turns more soft and sober, as Raunak goes on a self-rehabilitation drive, shunning all addiction. His saga track with Soha is happy as compared to his hardcore sex-drive scenes with Mrunalini Sharma in the first half. But beyond the positive and negative shades the narrative does not create as much contrast in relating and feeling the protagonist’s dilemma better.

The second half seems very soft in comparison to the intensity in the initial buildup the film adds strength where not needed and vice versa. A basic idea of a deaf person composing decent music makes for an inspiring story but the influences of drugs and alcohol make situations obvious and monotonous.

The entire track of Raunak’s struggle with his inner devil the clown looks foolish over being symbolic it looks dull and unnatural. It gets annoying after a point and the entire track could certainly have been avoided. For a filmdealing primarily with music, the actual ‘soundtrack’ is not exciting as one would have expected. Also the length could have been shorter editing several repetitive portions. Dialogues, in the second half, are well written and leave an impact.

Rajeev’s performance is splendid as he has done complete justice with his charm and persuasive acting ability. His involvement with the character amazes at the conviction he brings to his role. Soha Ali Khan not only plays a deaf character, she has to lisp in her diction too. And the actress does it with absolute detail and brings grace to her role. It would have made more sense if the story enlightened on the reason behind her lisp. Mrinalini Sharma looks refreshingly sexy and is not one-bit vulgar in her skimpily-clad character. Mohan Kapoor does a great job supporting the entire plot. Manu Rishi doesn’t get much scope. Yatin Karyekar suits the character perfectly with his charming aura.
While it does have potential as a good film, Soundtrack, at least, turns out to be sound cinema. Worth giving an ear and eye too with its loud tracks and well adapted quotes.

Karan Johar’s STUDENT OF THE YEAR will not be Shah Rukh Khan Although the two agreed on behind the scene appearances as co-producers of the film but Johar is not yet ready to give up his lucky charm.

SRK will do a cameo in the film, since the actor has always been featured in every one of his productions. Shah Rukh was initially supposed to star as a dean in STUDENT OF THE YEAR as the character was not the right fit Rishi Kapoor was roped.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR also stars newcomers Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

Comic actor Anna Faris gave out a rather funny message to her fans while promoting her upcoming flick WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER.

In her upcoming comedy film WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER Ally Darling has a bit of a crisis moment, when she reads a magazine article warning that people who have had 20 or more relationships have missed their chance at truelove. So, on a quest to find the best ex on her list, she sets out to reconnect with the colorful and sometimes bizarre assortment of lovers from her past, hoping that one of them will be marriage material.

With this theme in mind, the actress recently released a funny promotional video, preaching about the importance of recycling boyfriends???? Narrating the ever-growing shortage of resources so reduce, reuse, and recycle, single women everywhere will find it harder and harder to snag a really qualified boyfriend. Luckily, men are like grass clippings, paper bags, chicken bones, and old cars they can be useful again.

MOD rests on a very engaging plot which is much beyond romance though it touts to be a romantic film. The well-knitted story, however, loses essence with extremely slow-paced screenplay. The initial 40 minutes showcase the shabby rural climate of a family living on a hill station Ganga out then surprises unfold as Nagesh Kukunoor introduces each character.

Inspired by Taiwanese film ‘Keeping Watch’ it is an innocent romantic story. Ayesha Takia and Rannvijay Singh suit the theme perfectly as Nagesh Kukunoor unfolds yet again a story based on school romance with a different twinge.

Ayesha Takia Azmi plays Ananya about 25 year old girl who lives in a hill station called Ganga, she lives with her father Raghuvir Yadav who plays Ashok Mahadeo and her aunt Tanvi Azmi who plays Gayatri Garg. Anant Mahadevan and Nikhil Ratnaparkhi play their parts well. Ananya’s father is the head of the local Kishore Kumar Fan club while her aunt runs a restaurant. Ananya and her father still wait for her mother who leaves them to fulfill her dreams. Ananya runs a watch repair store where she meets her lover boy Rannvijay Singh, Andy he lands up at her doorstep to have his watch fixed, he is shy boy, and repeatedly comes to get his water logged watch repaired and leaves a 100 rupees note shaped into a swan.

Andy’s introduction is innovative like his character “Andy Raymond last bench class 10^th B”. Post interval, as the story opens out with hard to predict twists, as things fall on diverse paths. The very thin line between the characters of Andy who actually turns out be Abhay is beautifully portrayed by Rannvijay in a manner worthappreciation. He has indeed proved his caliber on the big screen. Only the climax could have been more powerful in terms of writing as it doesn’t complement the flow with which narrator unravels the plot.

Rannvijay Singh is superb with switching lanes from a timid Andy to a flamboyant Abhay. It is a treat to watch him enact his role with such confidence. Ayesha looks graceful and acts well, living up to the expectations of the character.

Nagesh Kukunoor a serious filmmaker has expressed the genre of romance too with his subtle nuances. MOD touches both heart and soul with the innocent situational accident of fate. Nagesh leaves one at the edge of the seat as soon as Andy moves in the plot despite the slow screenplay which is expected as he is never in a hurry tosurprise his viewers.
Music is the drawback and makes the screenplay look dull. Cinematography superb, capturing the locales of the small town Ganga in which the film is set. Dialogues complement the intense situations and leave a big impact at some places. Editing is crisp to compliment the slow screenplay Interesting storyline, power-packed performances, dialogues and intelligent direction are the strengths. On the whole, MOD is a one time watch which surely won’t disappoint you due to the fresh concept.

Raghu Dixit, launches fresh talent lively lyrics are well timed. After LUV KA THE END, this film under YRF to seems to woo urban viewers that bring all the daily chores on big screen.

Overall speaking, it’s a well-mannered presentation connecting well with the targeted section as the transition smoothly moves from moderate yet perfect moments to mixed matched complicated yet perfect combinations.
